Role Overview : The school are seeking an experienced and caring Autism Support Assistant to support children with autism in our KS1 provision. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored support, ensuring that students with autism can access the curriculum and participate fully in school life. You will play a key role in helping students develop their social, emotional, and communication skills in a nurturing and structured environment. The school are looking for the successful candidate to start as soon as possible. Key Responsibilities : Provide one-on-one and group support to children with autism in the KS1 setting. Assist in delivering personalised learning plans and interventions to meet the individual needs of students. Support children in developing social skills, communication, and emotional regulation. Help manage classroom behaviour using positive reinforcement techniques. Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor and review progress. Support the creation of an inclusive and welcoming classroom environment. Assist with personal care and other daily activities as required. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to the development of strategies for inclusion. Key Skills and Experience : Experience working with children with autism or additional learning needs (desirable). A compassionate, patient, and positive approach to supporting children. Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and strategies for supporting children with autism. A flexible and adaptable approach to meet the changing needs of students. Experience in supporting social, emotional, and behavioural development (desirable).
