Senior Estates Surveyor
Location: Exeter City Council
Contract: 6 month rolling contract
Hours: 37 hours a week, 2 days in the office
Rate: £450-500p/d

We are looking for a Senior Estates Surveyor to join our dynamic Corporate Property team within the Corporate Resources Directorate. This is an exciting opportunity to take responsibility for the commercial estate management of the City Council's diverse commercial property portfolio, as well as provide key property advice to other service units.
Main Duties:
1. Manage valuations and negotiations related to leases, tenancies, licences, property acquisitions, and disposals.
2. Oversee the day-to-day management of the property portfolio, ensuring compliance, efficient property management practices, and addressing tenant and health & safety issues.
3. Offer expert property advice and guidance to other Council units.
4. Mentor and supervise Assistant Estates Surveyors, assisting with their professional development.
5. Contribute to property-related decision-making, including capital accounting purposes and asset valuations.
Who Are We Looking For?
The ideal candidate will have:
1. Membership or Fellowship of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and eligibility as a RICS Registered Valuer.
2. Extensive experience in commercial property management and valuation, with up-to-date knowledge of property law and valuation practices.
3. Strong negotiating skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload of property-related matters.
4. Supervisory and mentoring experience, as well as an ability to guide junior team members.
5. Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
1. Proven experience in commercial estate management.
2. Up-to-date knowledge of property law, valuation techniques, and negotiating best practices.
3. Strong IT skills and experience in using relevant property management software.
4. Awareness of Health & Safety legislation.
5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team to deliver successful outcomes.
