Head of Engineering Design Bradford £55,000 to £65,000 Monday to Thursday 8:30am to 5:00pm, Friday 8:30 to 4:30 35 days annual leave, free parking, onsite gym, healthcare Head of Engineering Design The Role You will support the strategic objectives of the company to design and manage market leading air management and acoustic solutions. Assess the technical requirements of the business and manage the design and sales support functions. Focus on the technical development of award winning solutions for the air management and acoustic markets, ensuing the latest proven technology is being integrated into the company offering. You will provide an interface between the technical and sales/commercial teams. You main duties and responsibilities will include… · Act as the technical lead for the company for solutions and product-based sales. · Lead the engineering team in day-to-day tasks (business as usual.) · Drive process management efficiencies and improvements. · Ensure that all technical and estimating documentation is consistent, relevant, and reliable. · Manage technical compliance within the company. · Co-ordinate the daily workload of the design team and multiproduct enquiries. · Manage the interface with the estimating team and engineering/technical. · Develop and improve handover procedures to post order engineering teams. · Provide technical advice to assist with projects and products, including (but not limited to) functionality, performance, efficiency, lifespan, quality, and cost. · Provide technical support to the pre-sales team, including site visits. · Mentoring, developing, and managing the design team with an emphasis on personal · development, positivity, and employee engagement. · Overseeing the day-to-day work completed by the team including specifications, designs and BOMs. · Representing the team providing updates in project progress, new technologies, new product development in addition to technical and risk management implications. · Encouraging and supporting the company’s continuous improvement ethos by carrying out technical design reviews, testing regimes, and analysis of new and existing products to improve efficiency and quality. · Investigating potential product development opportunities and lead the prototyping and testing of new products. · Keeping up to date with new technology, current and forthcoming legislative obligations, and providing a clear roadmap for new opportunities. · Promoting and co-ordinating technical knowledge within the company, including technical knowledge sharing and harvesting. · Presenting to other teams and providing updates on new products to increase the knowledge base of peers, including external CPDs. · Providing technical training to individuals and teams. · Improving, working to, and overseeing the ISO9001 design technical process. · Any other ad hoc duties that may be required from time to time for the smooth running of the business. Head of Engineering Design The Candidate You will be a Design Manager or Head of Engineering with extensive experience of working within a sheet metal manufacturing environment. You will also have the following skills, experiences and attributes… · Experience of product development/improvement. · A strong knowledge and background in air handling units/process air conditioning, HVAC or Acoustics is essential. · Must have experience of working as an Engineering Manager, Head of Engineering, Design Manager · Experience of working within a fast-moving Sales-driven environment. · Minimum degree level in Engineering or equivalent experience (7 years.
