Teacher of RPE
We are looking for an inspirational and forward-thinking Teacher of Religion, Philosophy & Ethics. The Humanities faculty (comprising History, Geography and RPE) is a friendly, hard-working team, RPE is a popular subject throughout all year groups and therefore we are looking for someone who can bring passion and knowledge to the classroom through engaging and exciting lessons. The successful candidate will be able to teach RPE as a specialism across KS3 and KS4 and be able to teach another specialism too.
Religion, Philosophy & Ethics is delivered at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 as core, where Religious Studies runs as an optional GCSE subject with sustained strong results. The evolution of the curriculum is a priority moving forward so that our students learn about, and from, a broad range of perspectives to inform reflections on the modern world and key disciplinary themes. We also deliver a core RE programme at KS4 on a once fortnightly basis that deals with many of thematic issues taught at GCSE RS.
Through RPE, pupils encounter ancient and living traditions that have shaped the world. They explore foundational texts and the way that individuals and groups live in the world, as well as the values, beliefs and ideas that bind people together. Pupils consider deep questions that have inspired human thought throughout history, and that still challenge children and adults alike today. The knowledge that they gain stretches beyond oversimplifications: it enables pupils to derive meaning from complexity.
