This is the job
Our Senior Controls, Risk, and Partner Evaluation Manager will be pivotal in managing business risk and compliance within the Financial Services division of the AA. This role includes responsibility for Financial Promotions, conducting first-line risk assessments, managing the business risk register, ensuring regulatory compliance, and maintaining proper governance controls and record-keeping. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for holding our third-party partners accountable, evaluating their performance against contractual obligations and initial expectations. We will work with three main external suppliers: one for Loans and Savings, one for secured car finance, and one for car leasing.
What will I be doing?
* Conduct first-line risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential risks within the Financial Services Business Area. This includes evaluating existing controls, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements.
* Ensure timely and accurate approval and record-keeping of AAFS Financial Promotions, adhering to regulatory and marketing standards, including FCA and ASA guidelines.
* Stay up-to-date with regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to processes and controls to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies.
* Prepare and submit detailed risk assessment findings to internal governance meetings, providing clear and actionable insights to support decision-making.
* Define and track Risk/Compliance/Consumer Duty MI appropriately.
* Document processes and procedures to ensure clarity and consistency across the Financial Services Business Area, including creating and maintaining comprehensive process documentation, flowcharts, and control matrices.
* Monitor and evaluate the performance of third-party partners, ensuring they meet their SLAs and delivery schedules through regular reviews, audits, and performance evaluations, addressing any issues or discrepancies that arise.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including the Managing Director of Financial Services, to address risk and compliance issues. Provide guidance and support to team members on risk management and compliance matters, and coordinate with the Insurance Risk and Compliance Business Partner to ensure central risk and compliance reporting routines are achieved.
* Respond to partner inquiries promptly and professionally, prepare appropriate reports as needed, and coordinate with Group Risk and Compliance and the Insurance Risk and Compliance Business Partner on responses to applicable regulators.
* Lead, participate, and coordinate with the Insurance Risk and Compliance Business Partner in cross-functional projects and initiatives aimed at improving risk management and compliance processes within the Financial Services Business Area.
What do I need?
* Demonstrated experience in risk management, compliance, or a related role within the financial services industry.
* Professional certification in risk management or compliance (e.g., CRISC, CISA, or similar).
* In-depth knowledge of regulations related to financial services, particularly consumer finance and financial promotions.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make data-driven decisions.
* Ability to review diverse sources of information and data critically, draw conclusions, and produce compelling analysis, reports, presentations, and strategies.
* Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
* Experience in working with third-party partners and managing SLAs.
