About the team: The LTV DEM team has responsibilities for the safety and reliability of the rolling stock, the depot assets and the safety of the people that work in the LTV Engineering team. As part of this team there is an exciting opportunity to be involved in, and influence, the continuing transformation of the LTV train service and engineering operations. About the job: DEM Technicians deliver a broad and varied range of engineering support activities including training & assessments, technical support, process management, continuous improvement, performance analysis, audits & investigations, warranty, project management and stakeholder engagement, whilst ensuring legal compliance and promoting a strong safety culture at LTV engineering sites. The successful candidate will initially be focused on technical support, projects, and continuous improvement activities, whilst over time being developed to support other areas of the team. Your main responsibilities will be: Provide technical support. Author or amend technical documents. Resolve technical queries and improve processes. Drive continuous improvement and performance. Support and deliver projects. Undertake training, competency assessments and audits. You'll need to be: Technically astute (including fault finding). Committed to safety. Inquisitive and passionate about improvement. Able to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders. Flexible Work independently as well as part of a team. Confident using information technology. As a minimum, you will need to have: Sound technical knowledge and experience of T&RS, ideally for both mechanical and electrical systems as well as for fault finding and technical investigations/reports. NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) engineering qualification. An understanding of improvement (process & performance) and project management methodologies. An understanding of the safety hierarchy and risk assessments. About the location: The DEM team is based at Reading Train Care Depot, which is a large and varied site with good transport links by road and rail. The LTV outstations are also easily accessible by road and rail. Working Pattern: The role is predominantly Monday to Friday. However, it requires a high degree of flexibility to manage and prioritise workload to meet the requirements of the business, which includes working weekends, nights and travelling to other locations.
