An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join a 24-hour RCVS-accredited small animal hospital in Basildon, Essex. Just 30 minutes by train from London, with direct transport links to Southend and Stansted airports, and a 25-minute drive from the seaside, this location offers the perfect blend of city convenience and coastal relaxation.
About the Hospital
* This well-established hospital boasts a large, highly skilled team, including 14 vets, with certificate holders in surgery, medicine, orthopaedics, cardiology, and exotics, as well as others currently pursuing further qualifications.
* The experienced nursing team includes Schedule 3 and imaging-trained professionals, along with post-graduate certificate holders. Additional in-house specialists include a Hydrotherapist and Physiotherapist, supported by a dedicated team of Client Care Advisers.
* The hospital is purpose-built and state-of-the-art, equipped with advanced facilities such as a CT scanner, MRI, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and rehabilitation services. The practice delivers gold-standard inpatient care while offering first-opinion consultations and a range of outpatient specialist services, including emergency and critical care, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, CT/MRI imaging, hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, and laser therapy.
The Role:
* This position is ideal for an experienced vet with a surgical bias who thrives in a dynamic, progressive environment and is committed to clinical excellence.
* While an interest in laparoscopic surgery is beneficial, it is not essential.
* The successful candidate should be a competent surgeon, confident in handling standard emergency procedures and managing complex medical cases.
Hours: This is a full-time role working 40 hours per week over 4 days with 1 in 4 weekends. Part-time applications considered (must be available for 1 in 4 weekends).
OOHS: Minimal on-call rota (3-4 times per year).
