Haemochromatosis UK (HUK) is seeking a Chair of the Board of Trustees to provide strategic leadership and ensure the charity continues to deliver its mission of reducing the social injustice experienced by those with genetic haemochromatosis. About Haemochromatosis UK HUK is the UK’s leading charity supporting people affected by genetic haemochromatosis, a condition that leads to iron overload. The charity provides education, advocacy, and patient support services, while also promoting genetic testing and screening to save lives. The Role As Chair, you will work closely with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees to provide inspirational leadership, ensuring the charity operates within its governance framework and delivers on its strategic objectives. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the charity’s future direction, promoting its values, and championing its mission. Key Responsibilities Provide strategic leadership to the Board and ensure effective governance. Act as an ambassador for HUK, developing relationships with key stakeholders. Chair Board meetings, ensuring they are effective and focused on delivering the charity’s objectives. Support and appraise the Chief Executive, developing a strong and collaborative relationship. Lead the Board in regularly reviewing the charity’s risks, opportunities, and financial health. What We’re Looking For We are seeking a candidate with: At least three years of experience chairing a Board of Trustees or directors within a voluntary sector organisation. Strong leadership skills and experience operating at a senior strategic level. A successful track record of achievement in their career. A commitment to HUK’s mission, values, and strategic objectives. Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and foster collaboration.
