Care Home Nurse

Purpose of the Role
As a nurse working for a care home, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to residents. You will work as a member of the nursing team, carrying out all relevant forms of care in conjunction with other nurse practitioners. Ensuring that care services are consistently provided to a high-quality standard, meeting the personal care needs of residents while respecting the dignity of the individual and promoting independence. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the well-being and health of the elderly or individuals with various medical conditions who reside in the care home. Supervisions will be part of your job role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
To work as part of an efficient team and to contribute to the smooth running of the Home, working to the policies and procedures of the care home and operating within NMC guidelines.
To continue professional development through attending and contributing to internal/external training and development, meetings, and supervisions.
To administer all medication and treatments within the NMC guidelines and care home medication policy.
Responsible for reporting to the safeguard team incidents or concerns related to safeguarding adults.
Ensure that residents' care plans are completed and maintained in conjunction with residents, relatives, and other healthcare professionals, and in accordance with NMC guidelines & association policy.
Maintain accurate records and ensure that each resident within the Home has an individualised care plan.
To act as mentor to new staff and less experienced members of staff, providing relevant training/coaching, and communication.
Skills and Experience
Knowledge of nursing practices and procedures, including medication administration and wound care.
Ability to empathise and communicate effectively with residents, families, and the care team.
Strong organisational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Patience, compassion, and a genuine interest in caring for older adults.
Flexibility to work day, evening, night shifts, and weekends as required.
Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to accurately complete care plans and maintain up-to-date information.
