Job Title: Production Engineer
Location: Basingstoke
This role reports into the Senior Production Engineer and works as part of a team to undertake planning and purchasing, focusing on the production, maintenance, and development of BoM’s, routings, and manufacturing orders. The aim is to ensure optimal approaches to manufacturing and work scheduling to optimize efficiency and increase productivity in a make-to-order capital equipment environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintain technical engineering instructions for a multi-disciplinary production facility (fabrication & weld, machine shop, and fitting).
2. Maintain production BoM’s, routings, and manufacturing orders for existing and new products.
3. Create routings and, where required, costing to facilitate make-buy decisions, consulting with engineering and manufacturing as needed.
4. Produce costings in support of prospective sales based on historical costings or first principles.
5. Assist in purchasing through negotiation and placement of orders for raw materials, components, and sub-contract manufacture or service provisions as required.
6. Routinely expedite and provide regular updates on procurement status and expedite material shortages with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure timely deliveries, contributing to improvements in on-time delivery.
7. Identify and recommend opportunities for improvement based on experience and exposure as part of a drive for continual improvement.
8. Assist in the annual stock take.
Skills & Experience:
1. Experience in production engineering, planning, and buying, ideally from a capital equipment make-to-order background.
2. Ability to manage different processes and tasks to achieve an end goal.
3. Self-starting/motivated with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to identify and implement improvements based on experience and exposure.
5. Adept at managing situations to achieve cost, time, and quality targets.
6. Computer literate, familiar and competent in Excel and Word.
7. Experience in an ERP/MRP environment is advantageous.
8. Experience in Epicor Kinetic or Epicor 10 ERP system is advantageous.
Educational Qualifications:
Minimum academic level required: NVQ/SVQ Level 3 / ONC/OND in Mechanical / Production Engineering
Ideal academic level: NVQ/SVQ Level 4 / HNC/HND in Mechanical / Production Engineering

Mobility Requirements:
The role will be based on-site at our Basingstoke premises. Occasional travel may be required within the UK in support of supplier development and our manufacturing operations.
