Sulis is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Royal United Hospital, Bath NHS Trust but retains an Independent Sector status as a hospital, driving its ambition to grow capacity in both the NHS and private patient sectors in conjunction with the Trust and BSW ICB Success has been seen over the past 3 years of ownership with the introduction of same-day arthroplasty, recognition as the only GIRFT-accredited site in the UK and a drive, through the anaesthetic dept to grow not only the High-volume, Low-Complexity cohort of patients, but work toward more complex patients with higher comorbidities – your contribution will be essential in this development Sulis is highly regarded at local, regional (South West) and national levels not only for the level of care for our patients and staff, but ingenuity in service-line development, efficiency and outcomes We are looking for Consultant Anaesthetists to join our team. The post will compliment an existing team of consultants. The job plan will involve 8 programmed activities (PAs). As a patient-centred, clinically led organisation we expect our clinical partners to participate in care-pathway development, research, audit, and teaching. There could be the opportunity to develop your own clinical leadership and take on additional responsibilities for Medical leadership of our theatres, Day Surgery Unit, Inpatient Unit, Pre-Op Assessment services and other areas. We are looking for someone who has extensive experience and training in the specialty. Short-stay, high-volume cases are expected and experience in the delivery of anaesthesia commensurate with same-day cases is required, eg arthroplasties. The successful appointee will be expected to comply with all relevant Sulis policies relating to administration of patient care. This includes working to set timescales for the treatment of patients, completion of appropriate documentation including management of postoperative analgesia. Consultants are also expected to work with other partners, clinical unit managers, nurses, and consultant colleagues to manage their caseload in a flexible way, to ensure clinical, and local priorities are achieved. The job plan will be adjusted to fulfil the interests of the successful appointee; however, appointees will be expected to deliver a minimum of eight Clinical PAs in theatres and pre-operative assessment and two PAs of Supporting Professional Activity time each week. Weekend working will be rostered in conjunction with other Sulis-employed Consultant colleagues. An on-call weekend roster will also be shared with colleagues.
