The Ocean Census is an ambitious international scientific endeavour, endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development.
As Chief Science Officer, you will lead the science programme to discover ocean life and develop, manage and coordinate the international alliance of science partners contributing to the Census.
You will be responsible for co-developing and implementing the science strategies of Ocean Census, including species discovery, data management and conservation applications.
A strong understanding of marine biodiversity and ecological research processes, specifically related to taxonomy, molecular biology and large data, is essential for this role.
You will work closely with the Programme Director, Founding Partners and Ocean Census Steering Committee to ensure accurate reports of progress.

The successful candidate will have proven experience of leading or managing an international science programme with a global network of science partners.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to lead the science programme, support public engagement and expeditions with international partners.
An estimated salary of $120,000 - $180,000 per year is available for this position, depending on experience.
