Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The post holder will work at providing a clinical service on the wards and deliver quality care to patients at ward level through efficient medicines optimisation.
This will include the assessment of patient's own drugs, medicine reconciliation, and discharge planning, counselling patients about their medicines and coordinating the supply of discharge medication to ensure patient flow throughout the hospital.
The post holders will work with the clinical pharmacy team to continually develop the service, while maintaining high standards and achieving best practice to meet the needs of patients and the Trust.
The role will involve being a Practice/Educational supervisor, Line management and leadership and will also involve taking responsibility for a defined area of service delivery.
The role will also involve dispensary based responsibilities which will involve working as an accredited checking Technician.
Person specification
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical science or equivalent
* NVQ 3 in pharmacy services or equivalent
* Registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council
Knowledge
Essential criteria
* Knowledge of pharmaceutical technical procedures acquired through training, NVQ3, BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent level
Experience
Essential criteria
* Hospital based post qualification experience
* Management and leadership experience
* Experience of training and mentoring staff
Skills
Essential criteria
* Has proven ability to achieve results and good communication
* Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills and ability to negotiate.
* Ability to analyse information to provide advice
* Ability to train less experienced staff and students
