To support continued expansion of the Trust's internal development function, we require a Head of Development who has experience of leading large development functions and has the technical capability to support the Trust's cloud-first development strategy.
This role will define the future of technology within the Trust but also impact wider within the region and on a national level with involvement in a wide variety of projects.
We offer flexible working arrangements with 27 days of annual leave as standard, increasing to 29 after 4 years of service and 33 days after 10 years.

Main Duties of the Job
The post holder is professionally accountable as the Lead Architect, Developer, and mentor to the development teams within Digital Services. The post holder will be responsible for highly complex strategic and innovative solutions with the ability to present and articulate technical executions clearly and concisely to internal and external stakeholders.
Working closely with the Deputy Director of Digital, you will help shape and deliver the roadmap to underpin Northumbria Trust's high levels of care. In summary, you will be responsible for the following areas:

Job Responsibilities
To develop and implement the Trust's Digital roadmap which underpins the Trust's ambition to be beyond outstanding.
You will be technically strong with the ability to maintain and improve our cloud-first development approach.
You will be the technical lead across multiple programmes of work at pace, always looking to transform the clinical staff and patient experience through service re-design and digitisation, creating digital solutions that are simple, intuitive, and inclusive.
Contribute to and deliver large and complex digital projects as required and manage compliance and mitigate risk.
Lead, support, and motivate other services and teams in developing a clear understanding of best practice in digital services and the development of innovative solutions.
Establish and develop excellent relationships with a range of stakeholders across the Trust in administrative and clinical settings.
Be proactive in maintaining up-to-date knowledge of technological development, NHS/Healthcare legislation, policies, and approaches and in understanding the impact of any change at a business and Digital Services level.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent experience, and specialist knowledge acquired through postgraduate courses & experience to Master's or equivalent level plus in-depth managerial, technical, and strategic knowledge.
* Requires highly developed, in-depth specialist knowledge, underpinned by theory and professional experience of disciplines including technical development, Quality Assurance, and IM&T service delivery acquired through training and experience over an extended period.
Other
* It is an essential requirement of the role that the post holder has a valid driving licence and is either a car owner and able to use the car for work purposes, or has a Trust personal lease vehicle which may be used for the role. However, the Trust would consider making reasonable adjustments to the role, if necessary, to enable a disabled person to undertake the role.
Experience
* Extensive experience with Umbraco/Sitecore CMS.
* Extensive knowledge of MS SQL Server and Cloud SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS.
* Expert knowledge of source control systems (GIT).
* Expert knowledge of Continuous Integration and deployment tools like Azure DevOps.
* Expert knowledge and practical experience with implementing CMS search capabilities using Lucene and SOLR.
