Main purpose of job: An Installation Electrician installs new equipment, containment, wiring and accessories as per standards. Determines the parts required for proper installation and obtains them. Will perform troubleshooting and repair of equipment as required. Performs general troubleshooting of circuits. Replaces accessories and equipment. Position reports to: Director or Line Manager Location: Based in Portsmouth, but will be expected to work in various locations. Salary: Competitive Main tasks of job: · Ensuring that electrical systems adhere to the IET Wiring Regulations. · Assisting in giving guidance to Apprentice Electricians. · Ability to perform basic electrical construction. · Use of pipe bending and threading tools, hand power tools and hand tools. · Ability to perform the installation, testing and troubleshooting of electric conductors, transformers, circuit breakers and motor control centres, building wiring systems pertaining to power and lighting systems, reading and understanding of electrical constructions and electrical control drawings, written and verbal procedures, the use test equipment such as digital multimeter, insulation resistance meters / Meggers, circuit tracers, amp-probes, common electrical tools both handheld powered and mechanical. · Receive regular training as and when agreed in a training programme, to keep up to date with new information. · Receive training so you can assist with identifying hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair, to ensure compliance with agreed codes, law, legislation, working practices, health and safety and hygiene. · Installations, inspections, diagnosing faults, testing, repair and maintenance of electrical wiring, equipment, apparatus and fixtures. · General electrical work and preparation. · Aid with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, keeping the vehicle tidy, unload and check deliveries. · Liaising with the line manager and other site workers and performing jobs as and when they are required in accordance with contract/ agreed requirements and within agreed limits. · Working using your own initiative. · Maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation associated with work. · Report to your Line Manager. · Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the Company and/or its clients/customers or which you think may affect health and safety to the Line Manager. · You may be expected to be part of special projects as are reasonably required of your job role. · You are responsible for your allocated workload and must meet all targets as agreed with your Line Manager. · You must contribute towards the smooth running of the team and Company and help to meet whole team targets. · Ensure you show the company in good light. · You must carry out your duties to the best of your ability having consideration for the needs of your colleagues and the Company and its clients/customers.
