West Yorkshire Pension Fund is a leading Local Government Pension Fund and one of the UK largest pension funds, based in Bradford. Due to our increasing Shared Service with other pension funds we require a Finance Officer to join our small, friendly team based in Aldermanbury House in Bradford City Centre.
The Finance Officer’s role is a varied one, where your skills and versatility will be utilised to support the breadth of our Finance Team’s function. A key part of the Finance Officer’s role will be to provide a number of varied financial services within the Pension Fund, with opportunities to progress and support for accountancy training.
Key duties include:
1. Investigate and resolve supplier queries, reconcile supplier statements
2. Identify and post prepayments and accruals
3. Produce adhoc reports and analysis
4. When required, you will support the Finance Team by undertaking:
5. Daily accounting for the general ledger (data entry, statement reconciliation)
6. Sundry debtor processes and raising invoices
7. Bank Accounts reconciliation, and suspense account clearance
8. Reconciling employers monthly contribution payments to members’ records
9. Posting pensions contributions to members’ records
The Ideal Candidate:
10. Previous accounting experience of general ledger record maintenance, bank reconciliation and sundry debtor transactions
11. Experience in month end reconciliations and preparing variance analysis
12. Intermediate capability in using financial software such as SAP or Oracle Financial
13. Studying or willing to study for accountancy qualifications
14. Excellent Excel and Words skills
15. Strong attention to detail and root-cause resolution, demonstrates a high level of intellect and speed of understanding
16. Versatile and adaptable, willing to undertake an array of basic financial tasks
17. Outstanding customer communication skills, be an excellent team player, and able to multi-task
