Overview
The Shift Supervisor (SS) has full authority and responsibility for assuring performance objectives and standards identified in the contract are met for the location during their respective shift. The SS is responsible for exercising leadership, maintaining high morale, and directing the performance of all security personnel assigned to their shift. The SS will communicate with the Site Project Manager, Site Training Manager, and all Security Officers assigned to their shift, to ensure all training and certifications requirements are met for all personnel assigned to their shift, and operational issues that are systemic across the contract or specific to their site. The SS must administer services for site-specific day-to-day services described in the contract specifications, direct patrol actions, oversee response to calls, incidents, and complaints, and rectify the causes of the complaints.
Responsibilities
* Follow all company personnel and safety policies, and perform all assigned duties in a safe work manner.
* Administer instructions to security personnel assigned to the site and assure that all officers are familiar with the facility and their duties.
* Promptly notify the chain-of-command of all unusual, emergency, and/or significant situations concerning security personnel at the site.
* Verify that all officers receive and understand new, changed, or special instructions.
* Conduct investigations into security matters and report findings to chain-of-command and the client.
* Accountable for the proper use and maintenance of all equipment used at all sites by assigned officers.
* Accurately maintain all field file records of employees assigned to the site, including time and attendance, disciplinary actions, promotions, demotions, commendations, and status/payroll change reports.
* Manage the staffing of posts at the site to ensure complete coverage, including for vacations, illness, and call-offs.
* Review and ensure clarity, completeness, accuracy, and legibility of all written reports, timesheets, and logbook entries.
* Keep post orders and operations manual accurate and up-to-date.
* Take charge and direct security personnel in any unusual or emergency situations requiring immediate action.
* Maintain daily liaisons with contract officials to ensure the terms of the contract are being met to the client's satisfaction and expectation.
* Have complete authority over assigned personnel to ensure the accomplishment of quality work.
* Serve as a Site Trainer on an as-needed basis.
* May be required to work other than normal duty hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
* Oversee and directly or indirectly supervise all security force officer personnel on the contract site.
* Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
* Must be at least 21 years of age.
* Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in law enforcement or a security-related area; military experience is also acceptable.
* Must meet the minimum criteria of the Interagency Security Committee (ISC) Best Practices for Armed Security Officers in Federal Facilities.
* Minimum of two years supervisory experience.
* Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
* Must have the ability to obtain a Public Trust.
* Must meet or exceed the Minimum Medical and Physical Standards for Armed Security Officers outlined in the ISC Best Practices.
* Must satisfactorily qualify with a 9 mm semi-auto pistol handgun and M4 semi-automatic rifle, and shotgun qualification course administered by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) quarterly.
* Must complete and successfully pass the FLETC Active Shooter Threat Training Program (ASTTP).
* Must satisfactorily pass initial and random drug testing.
* Must satisfactorily pass initial psychological testing.
* In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire, including a background check.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Skill in operating a personal computer and standard office equipment.
* Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database (MSWord, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), and Outlook.
* Ability to manage multiple, high-priority tasks simultaneously.
* Capable of assimilating and critically evaluating information.
* Prioritize and plan work activities; use time efficiently; plan for additional resources; set goals and objectives; organize or schedule other people and their tasks; develop realistic action plans.
* Approach others in a tactful manner; react well under pressure; treat others with respect and consideration; accept responsibility for own actions; follow through on commitments.
