Our Fostering service plays an integral part in Devon County’s role as a corporate parent by ensuring that all placements for children and young people in Devon are safe, nurturing and thriving. Comprised of three teams, Exeter & East Devon, North & Mid Devon and South Devon, our Fostering Service works with appropriate regard to National Minimum Standards for Fostering, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011, and other relevant legislation to provide support, advice and supervision to foster carers throughout the county.

About the role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced individual to join us as a Supervising Social Worker in our Fostering Supervision and Support Service covering Exeter and East Devon. This is a fantastic opportunity to grow your social work career within a supportive, vibrant and experienced team that places children and families at the heart of everything we do.
As a Supervising Social Worker you will champion high standards of professional social work practice and have sound knowledge in fostering regulations and legal options available to children to be cared for by persons within their network. You will participate in unannounced visits, annual reviews, quality assurance and will assist in the delivery of training to prospective and existing foster carers. You will champion restorative practice and encourage a collaborative culture, where opportunities for reflection and learning are supported.
Your skills and experience will include:
1. A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England
2. Satisfactory completion of your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)
3. Experience of working within social care, including working in a multi-agency and court environment, with knowledge of fostering regulations
4. A high-level of written and verbal communication skills*
5. The ability to build effective professional relationships with children, families, and other professionals
6. Knowledge and understanding of the legislation, models, and theories relevant to children’s social work
7. Exceptional recording and planning skills
8. A valid UK driving licence and access to a car*
