The Opportunity
Are you an experienced Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) professional with strategic leadership skills and a passion for fostering inclusivity? We are seeking an inspiring Dean for Culture and Inclusion to:
1. Lead institution-wide EDI strategies and initiatives.
2. Drive cultural change for an equitable, welcoming environment.
3. Champion EDI in research, teaching, engagement, and widening participation.
4. Collaborate with stakeholders to embed EDI in decision-making.
5. Implement initiatives to overcome barriers and promote diversity.
This is a unique opportunity to lead transformative change in a complex University context, making a real difference to our community and beyond.
The Role
As Dean for C&I, you will work closely with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and other senior leaders, providing expert advice and strategic direction on all aspects of EDI. You will lead efforts to embed inclusive practices across the University and ensure accountability for progress towards our EDI goals. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Overseeing the Anti-Harassment and Bullying Team and related initiatives.
2. Leading EDI programme boards and steering committees.
3. Developing and implementing strategies to close disparities and address underrepresentation.
4. Acting as an ambassador for Lancaster University in regional, national, and international EDI forums.
5. Fostering a culture of respect, belonging, and open dialogue across the University.
About You
We are looking for someone with:
1. Significant experience in EDI leadership within a complex organisation.
2. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
3. A proven track record of designing and implementing effective EDI initiatives.
4. The ability to analyse and interpret data to inform strategy and decision-making.
5. A passion for creating an equitable and inclusive organisational culture.
