The Team:
The Hiscox UK Change Team is the bridge between the business and the technology teams, ensuring that technology change is prioritised, defined, broken down and delivered in a way that enables the business to achieve its strategic goals, whilst also enabling the technology strategy. This means understanding the end-to-end context of the change, and having a laser-focus on value so that we can ensure both that we’re doing the right things, and doing the things right. The role
The main responsibility of this role is project management of change projects for the UK business. This involves assuming the project leadership role and overall responsibility for taking a project from an original concept through the final delivery. This role requires a proactive approach to collaborating with and managing internal and external stakeholders ensuring delivery is achieved by the most effective and efficient means.
The project portfolio varies based upon the needs of the UK business but has a heavy focus on delivery of change to IT systems. Accordingly, you must have a proven track record of delivering projects with significant technology dependencies.
What you’ll be doing
1. Lead project management activities including benefit identification, plan management, tracking and reporting of delivery progress; identification, evaluation and resolution of risks, issues, dependencies; tracking, development and assurance of initiative deliverables
2. Define resource plans and work closely with internal teams, stakeholders and vendors to manage the day-to-day and full end-to-end project delivery activities
3. Manage project scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed time, cost and quality parameters
4. Define and track project milestones and ensure dependencies are understood and accepted by the relevant owners
5. Remove barriers and lead resolution of issues/problems to enable teams to achieve the objectives
6. Oversee the agreed budget and ensure tracking and measurement of costs as well as reporting on benefits
7. Ensure projects adhere to the Hiscox Change Delivery Framework and foster project transparency as well as accurate and timely reports on project status, schedule and costs to the Portfolio Manager and PMO
8. Manage projects across the entire UK change portfolio which may require managing multiple projects simultaneously and/or managing a series of dependent projects
9. Provide support and input into the portfolio planning process by engaging in pre-project sizing, skillset and dependency mapping
10. Build strong productive relationships within the business, the change team and with third parties in order to deliver effective solutions.
Our must haves
11. More than 5 years Project Management experience and a track record of successfully delivering projects with significant technology dependency
12. Excellent stakeholder, conflict and influence management skills.
13. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of working with people at all levels within and external to the business
14. MS Project or other structured project management tools
15. Have experience working as a Project Manager in a multiple project environment with challenging timeframes and deliverables
16. Have had exposure to distributed teams and relationship building with stakeholders
17. Have exposure to the full project life cycle, from inception to user acceptance testing, deployment and handover to BAU
18. Knowledge of PM best practices, methodologies, and project governance principles.
19. Experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
20. Proficiency in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and similar tools
21. Proven experience and understanding of software delivery lifecycle
22. Intellect and gravitas to influence and gain credibility with business personnel and management
23. Be creative, proactive, logical and innovative and will not just accept the status quo
24. Be highly results driven, with the energy and determination to succeed in a very fast paced environment where the pace of response and leadership is critical to success
