After a unique collaboration between Alzheimer's Society, Dementia UK and Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust to deliver a specialist integrated dementia service, we are looking for an experienced, compassionate and dynamic individual to join our team as Band 6 Admiral Nurses.
These specialist nurses will deliver evidence based interventions to families affected by dementia who have multiple and complex needs across Norfolk and Waveney.
The service covers Norfolk and Waveney and surrounding areas.
Employed by Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, you will be supported by Dementia UK, who will support you to maintain and strengthen your clinical expertise as a specialist nurse through clinical supervision and professional development. You will become part of a national network of Admiral Nurses, and will have the opportunity to access relevant post-graduate courses and develop professionally, informed by the Admiral Nurse Competency Framework.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role is to provide specialist dementia nursing expertise and support to those affected by dementia. The role will include the following elements:
1. Provide specialist nursing assessment, evidenced based intervention, practical advice and emotional support for family carers of people with dementia and where appropriate people with dementia themselves, at all stages through peri-diagnosis to bereavement.
2. Offer expertise and guidance to professional colleagues, the general public and others in supporting family and relationship -centred approaches and best practice in dementia care.
3. Assist with the development, evaluation and audit of this specialist area of practice and of the Admiral Nursing service.
4. Provide up-to-date clinical advice, support, liaison, and in negotiated circumstances education and training to other staff/agencies.
5. Use the Admiral Nurse Competency framework to support the development of own Admiral Nursing practice.
6. Participate in and make effective use of Dementia UK Clinical Supervision and Practice Development.
Please note for this role you will be required to travel independently around the county. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle.

13. Registered Nurse (RMN/RMNH/RGN/ RNLD) (2)
14. Post Graduate training/education in dementia/older people (2)
15. Willingness to complete Dementia UK's Pre-Admiral Nursing e-learning course prior to/post starting in post (2)
16. Willingness to work towards continued profession and practical development through Dementia UL's Admiral Nurse Academy, including the level 6 or 7 Admiral Nurse Competency Framework Module (2)

17. Degree level qualification in dementia/older people's care (2)
