We are recruiting a dynamic, enthusiastic and hard-working receptionist to join our friendly and supportive team. The successful candidate will provide an exceptional standard of customer care and efficient administration service to our patients supporting the wider practice team.
Main duties of the job
To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception, telephone and administrative duties under the direction of the Lead Receptionist. Providing comprehensive support to the multidisciplinary team at the Practice and excellent customer service to our patients. Allocated duties will vary on a daily basis depending on current and evolving workloads, targets, skills mix and staffing levels. Provide general assistance to the practice team and project a positive and friendly image to patients and other visitors in person, by phone or via electronic means.

Lambert Medical Centre is a well-established practice offering patient services from its partnership owned premises in Thirsk town centre, a semi-rural market town. We offer services to those living in Thirsk and the surrounding villages. We have a stable patient list size of 8,600 and we dispense medication to approximately 40% of our list. There is an excellent range of housing and schools nearby with many local activities and the Yorkshire Moors and Dales on our doorstep.
We are a stable 4 partner GMS practice with an enthusiasm to develop our practice further. We are rated good by CQC (with an outstanding in 'caring'). We have a strong patient focus, with our ethos and values being rooted in delivering care for our community that we and our families would be happy to receive. We work in collaboration with our PCN (Hambleton South), neighbouring practices, our GP Federation and our local community to ensure we deliver high quality healthcare services in a safe environment which is welcoming, caring and accessible to all. We are a training practice, and we also have good links with Hull York Medical School who we partner with to deliver medical student teaching. Some of our GP partners have additional outside interests which we feel adds further value and experience to our leadership team. These include: GP Appraiser, GP Mentor, PCN Clinical Director, LMC Chair.
Job responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities to be undertaken by the postholder are broadly described below. The division of daily work between these areas will constantly change and the postholder will be expected to cover and maintain skills in all these areas and any other areas that develop relevant to the role and at an appropriate level.
Front Reception: greet, assist and signpost patients or other visitors in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional in a courteous, efficient and effective way.
Telephones: processing and triaging telephone requests from patients and other callers in a very busy and often pressurised environment. Making calls to patients to disseminate information, request information, book appointments and similar.
Administration: processing incoming documents whether on paper or electronically in line with Practice operating procedures. This covers a very wide and continually changing range with the growing majority now dealt with using a variety of clinical or other IT systems.
Support work: Any other administrative or patient facing work that may be required to support clinicians, managers or other staff as and when required. This may be on a regular or ad hoc basis.
