Role Overview
As a Science Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the science department in delivering high-quality education. You will work with students across various age groups and abilities, providing academic support and helping them achieve their best in subjects such as biology, chemistry, and physics.
Key Responsibilities
* Small Group Support: Provide targeted support to small groups of students who may need additional help understanding key science concepts.
* One-to-One Mentoring: Assist individual students in overcoming challenges in their learning, boosting confidence, and improving academic performance.
* Classroom Assistance: Collaborate with science teachers during lessons to engage students, manage classroom activities, and support practical experiments.
* STEM Promotion: Inspire students to explore careers and further studies in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
* Exam Preparation: Help students prepare for tests and exams by reviewing content, conducting revision sessions, and teaching effective study techniques.
* Progress Monitoring: Track and report on student progress to inform intervention strategies and support teachers in adapting lesson plans.
* Resource Management: Assist in preparing lesson materials, setting up experiments, and organizing lab equipment.
* Behaviour Support: Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment by managing behaviour effectively and building strong relationships with students.
Ideal Candidate Profile
* Graduate in Science: A degree in biology, chemistry, physics, or a related discipline is essential.
* Passion for Education: A genuine interest in teaching, mentoring, and supporting young people in their academic journey.
* Effective Communicator: Strong communication skills to explain complex scientific concepts clearly and confidently.
* Team Player: The ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members.
