Our client is looking for an experienced Apprentice Co-Ordinator. The Council continues to grow the number of recruited and upskilling apprenticeship opportunities and aims to meet the public sector target of 2.3% of the workforce total making up of apprentices. We aspire to be an apprentice ambassador for Swindon and local businesses by role modelling good practice and developing efficient processes.
In this new role, you will support the Organisational Learning Manager to deliver and maintain a growing apprenticeship programme within the learning and development team.
Key Accountabilities
1. Lead on the administration and management of the online DAS system, including adding new learners, keeping details up to date, and monitoring and tracking levy payments.
2. Administer the Apprentice tracker and ensure timely preparation of apprenticeship enrolment documentation for sign off.
3. A firm understanding of apprenticeship standards, delivery pathways, and blended learning.
4. Offer 1:1 support and guidance to line managers in understanding the apprenticeship pathway and work alongside managers to identify the right apprenticeship courses for the role.
5. Coordinate and chair Apprentice Network sessions as means of additional support for learners.
6. Establish and maintain positive relationships with training providers, including liaising with providers to source courses, identify learning opportunities, and actively monitor progress of learners.
7. Support in the procurement of Apprenticeship courses.
8. Provide timely quarterly reporting of Apprenticeship data, including data for Public Sector duty reporting.
9. Be responsible for answering a range of queries from different stakeholders regarding apprenticeship opportunities.
10. Develop further the existing support that SBC offers learners and keep internal guidance up-to-date.
11. Contribute, administer, and be an active member of the Apprenticeship Project Group.
12. Increase opportunities for care leavers by working directly with service areas to source appropriate opportunities.
13. Target service areas to source opportunities that maximise our apprentice levy.
14. Educate and encourage both staff and managers to consider apprenticeships as a form of CPD.
15. Take responsibility for offering additional support to Apprentices in their CPD.
16. Support apprentices at the end of their apprenticeship and their transition into the next step of their career.
17. Provide support to the wider Learning and Development function.
18. Engage in regular ESFA network meetings.
Supplementary Accountabilities
1. Promote equality and diversity best practice in all areas of work.
2. Ability to travel across the Borough for meetings.
3. Support the wider learning and development function.
Knowledge & Experience
Candidates must have substantial knowledge and experience in the following areas of business and will be required to provide evidence of this:
1. Understanding of apprenticeships as a means of learning and development.
2. Ability to develop positive partnerships within the organisation and with external partners.
3. General coordination and administration skills to support in the management of the apprenticeship programme.
4. Experience in providing support and guidance to stakeholders.
Qualifications
Educated to A-level standard or equivalent. Formal L&D, training, or coaching qualifications desirable, but not essential.

1. Make decisions when selecting apprenticeship courses and providers.
2. Make decisions on the best way to engage with learners.
Creativity and Innovation
1. Keep guidance documents relevant and user-friendly.
2. Work with the Organisational Learning Manager to contribute to the strategic direction set by the Apprenticeship Project Group.
3. Develop workshops and opportunities for engagement during national events like Apprenticeship Week.
