Senior Structural Engineer
We have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Senior Structural Engineer to join our sister company AC Architects at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre (NSBRC) and establish our new AC Structures office.

Experience & Attributes
As a senior member of the design team, your responsibilities will include preparing and overseeing calculation and drawing packages and assisting with management of project team resources. You will have experience in domestic scale projects, with a background in timber design and modern methods of construction a distinct advantage. This opportunity is perfectly suited for candidates who value architecturally driven design and enjoy collaborating with the Client and project team to achieve ambitious and industry-leading sustainable homes. You will have the support of the Dunfermline office but will have confidence in your ability to work independently and assist in establishing and growing the Swindon office. The position will inherit a pipeline of exciting projects in England and Wales and will continue to benefit from established working relationships with leading contractors and consultants. The ideal candidate will have their own contacts to introduce over time as well as the appetite to network and identify new business prospects.
About You

* MEng or BEng Qualified in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering with Architecture.
* 5-12 years’ experience working on smaller scale architecturally led projects.
* Chartered or actively training towards ICE or IStructE chartership is an advantage, but not a requirement of the role.
* Driven and determined with a self-disciplined approach to achieving results.
* Comfortable with specialist technical problem solving and designing using first principles.
* Experience with Tekla software packages, including TEDDS for Word.
Job Role and Responsibilities
You will report directly to the board, manage and lead projects, carrying out detailed structural design and analysis on our bespoke residential portfolio. With support and guidance, you will be given the opportunity to establish your own team and grow the Swindon offering.
* Ability to lead your own projects and produce structural design calculations and mark-ups.
* Manage project delivery, with regular and effective communication with the Client and project team.
* Represent AC Structures at trade shows and seminars.
* Maintain and establish professional relationships with key strategic specialist contractors and consultants.
* Assist with applying and regularly evaluating established AC Structures project process to maximize efficiency and Client satisfaction.
* To maintain continuing professional development and work towards becoming an expert in modern methods of construction.

Location
The role will offer flexible hybrid working, allowing up to two days of remote working with the remainder office-based from our office at the NSBRC in Swindon. As we specialize in the self-build sector, our projects are often remotely located and spread across the UK necessitating an ability to travel.
