As a H&S Manager, you'll guide a talented team of H&S Specialists, offering crucial support and expert advice across the entire product lifecycle-from origination and delivery to operations, decommissioning, and repowering. While your primary focus will be on H&S, you'll also have opportunities to contribute to Environmental and Quality system initiatives, ensuring our teams operate to the highest standards., This role is at the heart of ensuring our teams and projects not only meet compliance but also set the benchmark for safety excellence.
* Champion and promote a Zero Harm culture, driving safe practices and setting the highest HSE standards as a role model.
* Lead and support the H&S team, ensuring robust safety leadership and continuous development.
* Provide H&S guidance across the full lifecycle of projects, from origination to decommissioning, including training and empowering teams to prioritize safety.
* Collaborate with stakeholders, from local communities to emergency services, to embed safety in all aspects of planning and delivery.
* Assess contractors, supply chains, and tender submissions to ensure compliance with H&S standards.
* Conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations to uphold legal compliance and EDF Renewables' policies.
* Develop and deliver H&S plans, procedures, and training tailored to business needs, driving behavioural and cultural change.
* Align H&S systems and culture with EDF Renewables UK's Zero harm vision, contributing to forums, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
* Ensure emergency plans are in place for all operations, providing cover for H&S colleagues as needed.
You'll have experience of managing a health and safety function in an operational / multi-site environment in addition to:
* Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.
* Engineering, construction and/or renewables experience is desirable.
* Experience in high voltage equipment, switching and some solar/storage experience is desirable.
* Chartered member of IOSH (or similar) or working towards CMIOSH status is desirable.
* Ability to provide practical H&S advice and support.
* Effective communication skills, including written, on a one-to-one basis as trainer or coach, and with groups of people.
* Ability to influence behavioural change with an emphasis on operational activity.
* Ability to form effective working relationships with site staff at all levels, including the ability to influence behaviour by reasoned argument.
* Competence as a trained risk assessor across the full range of qualitative risk assessment areas.
* Ability to carry out detailed incident investigations to establish root causes and provide robust recommendations to prevent future reoccurrence.
* Ability to prioritise effectively and consistently deliver against tight time constraints while working flexibly as part of a team.
* Work flexibly; making site visits as required, to provide required services and support.
* Be prepared and willing to react to business needs in an emergency.
* Ability to adapt to different situations and work under pressure.
