We are looking for people with either working knowledge or solid qualifications in either applied physics, electro-optics, signal processing, artificial intelligence, radar systems, robotics and autonomy, applied mathematics and statistics, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, and advanced servo control engineering.
This roles are based on site in either in Southampton, Basildon or Bristol on a hybrid basis.

About the Role
As a Systems Engineer you will bridge the gap between the theoretically possible and what is practically implementable in a real system. We need talented scientists and engineers to take early concepts from a variety of sources and turn them into working solutions for a radar.
You do not need a background in engineering to make a difference. Our System Engineers predominantly come from science backgrounds.
Responsibilities include;
1. Applied research: Early research looking into exploiting new technologies or concepts.
2. High level design: Higher level understanding of the impact of design decisions can have on performance.
3. Low-level design: Detailed design/redesign, prototyping and optimisation of a particular processing solution using their expertise within their technical domain.

We are recruiting for a number of roles from a variety of backgrounds and skillsets. Based upon your skills and foundation knowledge, we will assess where your knowledge and skills would best fit and discuss options with you.
About You
You will have ideally have a Phd, EngD or other relevant research experience within a Maths, Engineering or relevant Technology subject or proven experience. We are not expecting you to have electronic warfare domain knowledge as we can provide support for that.
We would be interested in hearing from you if you also have:
4. Experience of collaborating with others either within your research group or wider afield
5. A drive to continuously improve your own skills and knowledge
6. A methodical approach to solving large complex problems
7. Experience in planning, leading and overseeing technical research or development tasks
8. An appreciation of Systems Engineering process
9. Coding is central to our day to day work. You should have some experience of using a programming language to solve problems or develop models.
10. Experience using Matlab and Simulink would be an advantage.
