SST is working alongside a leading manufacturer of control systems for gas and steam turbines, internationally renowned and with a large portfolio of multinational customers, to fill a vacancy for an Electrical Projects Engineer.
Job Description: Electrical Projects Engineer
1. Assist in the creation and modification of wiring diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
2. Liaise with customers and sub-contractors to ensure project alignment.
3. Produce functional design specifications for gas turbine control systems.
4. Specify electrical hardware components for control systems, including power supplies, PLCs, relays, etc.
5. Develop test specifications and procurement documentation.
6. Prepare test procedures and specifications for electrical control systems.
7. Conduct testing of electrical control panels.
8. Support the installation and commissioning of control, instrumentation, and auxiliary systems on gas-turbine-driven generating sets at UK on-shore power stations, offshore oil rigs, FPSO locations, and various international sites.
9. Complete all required documentation, including site reports and software/product revisions, in compliance with Quality Standards.
10. Oversee the commissioning of machines following service and maintenance visits.
Person Specification: Electrical Projects Engineer
Essential Skills and Requirements:
1. Strong knowledge of industrial PLC systems and their role within control system applications.
2. Familiarity with field instrumentation such as pressure transmitters, thermocouples, and control valves.
3. Understanding of control signals for field devices, such as 4-20mA, and their practical implementation.
4. Formal qualifications or relevant experience in Electrical Engineering.
5. Solid practical experience, particularly in wiring and electrical fault finding, is essential.
6. Proficiency in using electrical test equipment such as multi-meters and signal injectors.
7. Competence in interpreting wiring diagrams and general arrangement drawings.
8. Strong grasp of electrical fundamentals, including Voltage, Current, Resistance, Cable sizes, Power supplies, and Circuit Breakers.
9. Excellent customer relations skills, with the ability to build and maintain professional relationships.
10. Effective workload prioritisation and ability to meet deadlines.
11. Strong ability to extract relevant information from technical specifications.
12. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as part of or leading a team on-site.
13. Must hold a current, clean driving license.
14. Possession of a valid passport for international travel.
Advantageous Requirements
1. Power industry knowledge.
2. Experience of HV or Generator protection systems.
3. Good working knowledge of PLC based control and HMI systems software and hardware (Rockwell and Siemens S7).
4. Knowledge and experience of using AutoCAD electrical.
5. TUV / SUD Functional Safety qualification or equivalent.
6. Design & Implementation of Fire & Gas protection systems.
7. Good knowledge of Gas Turbines, Rotating machinery and hydraulic systems.
8. CCNSG Passport to Safety.
9. Offshore Vantage Card.
