Lead Toolroom Machinist
Location: Electrified Automation, Unit 4 Beech Business Park, Bridgwater, Somerset
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and flexible machinist, carrying out varied prototype and low volume (non-batch) work in a small tool room environment to support the growing demand of the Build & Commission Team.
This is a varied role in an exciting and challenging environment and to succeed you will need to be adaptable, demonstrate initiative and enjoy working as part of a team. Problem solving, attention to detail, good communication and organisational skills will be essential in this role.
What does a Machinist do at Electrified?
* Produce majority one-off prototype machined components to support the development of our innovative automation projects, working from a variety of engineering materials incl. aluminium, tool steel, mild steel and acetal.
* Program, set and operate our 3 XYZ milling machines using Prototrak and Siemens 810D ShopMill and control, manual lathe and associated cutting/drilling/fabricating tools.
* CAD/CAM machining using Fusion 360 and/or OneCNC.
* Work with engineers and technicians to review drawings with a view to improve simplicity of manufacture.
* Aid in material selection and recommendation of alternatives.
* Maintain raw material stock levels and request orders for replenishments.
* Carry-out routine care and maintenance of machines.
* Inspection of parts for conformity to drawing once manufactured.
* Ensure that all Health & Safety and quality requirements are met and the relevant Risk Assessments are completed.
What we are looking for (essential skills):
* Competent in setting, programming and operating milling machines, especially Prototrak and ShopMill controls.
* Experience of CADCAM, particularly Fusion 360 or OneCNC.
* Recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a similar environment.
* Ability to understand and work from technical drawings unguided.
* Ability to select and set appropriate cutting tools.
* Proficient with measuring equipment.
* Able to work independently and manage time effectively.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Attention to detail and pride in work.
15:30pm finish on a Friday, Monday to Thursday 07:30 – 16:30.
