Manufacturing Manager - Cake
What will this role achieve?
The Manufacturing Manager at our Halifax site will take full ownership and accountability for ensuring the manufacturing area operates safely, efficiently, and with a strong focus on quality, meeting all pladis standards as well as customer expectations. A key priority will be contributing to the development and execution of the site’s continuous improvement strategy, while also supporting individual and team growth as part of the broader labour plan. This role plays a vital part in shaping and delivering the medium to long-term strategy to future-proof the factory, alongside managing daily cost performance in line with fluctuating plant utilisation.
What will be your key deliverables?
1. Lead and drive safety and quality initiatives across the manufacturing site, including area ownership, behavioural programs, safety culture, audit compliance, and continuous improvement of consumer complaint metrics.
2. Manage and develop high-performing teams, focusing on motivation, mentorship, performance management, and fostering a culture of growth and success.
3. Deliver strong operational and financial performance, ensuring conformance to manufacturing plans, cost base improvements, and effective budget management (Prime, Overhead, Operational).
4. Champion site-wide engagement and strategy programs, including the Halifax Experience and Halifax Manufacturing Strategy, aligning with pladis UK’s broader vision.
5. Act as a key strategic partner, collaborating with Site Leadership, Marketing, and NPD to drive innovation, flawless new product launches, and long-term strategic goals.

10. Experienced in managing and developing diverse, high-performing teams
11. Familiar with applying Excellence and Continuous Improvement methodologies
12. Capable of managing multiple workstreams effectively, with strong prioritisation skills to consistently meet KPIs and performance targets

13. Background in working within a fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) environment
14. Proven project management experience across various business functions
15. Hands-on experience managing teams including recruitment, onboarding, and performance development
16. Demonstrated capability in managing and controlling budgets
17. Familiarity with operating in a unionised workplace environment
