Job description
Cover Supervisor/ HLTA
Prospero Teaching is working with a SEN/SEMH School which deals with students with additional needs and mental health issues. The pupils are age 11-16 years old KS3/4 secondary, all with EHCP plans and additional needs. The pupils have usually experienced multiple Adverse Childhood Experiences and struggle with mental health and trauma.
Your role is to build a connection with the young people and act as a mentor and role model for the students, as well as leading classes and organizing tasks throughout the day. You must have a strong cover supervisor, TA, or tutoring background with students from PRUs or SEMH schools.
Due to the barriers the pupils have in the classroom, the role will entail forging strong relationships with pupils. The role will see you using lots of mentoring skills (similar to those used in sports, drama, counselling) to help the individual engage with the school. You will support the pupil in the classroom and out of the classroom on a more vocational basis.
The position is open to all experienced candidates who have a strong background in mentoring children and young adults. Depending on performance, the school would consider extending the contract or offering a permanent position.
