Overview of the job
The job holder will deliver a range of rehabilitation interventions aimed at changing the attitudes, beliefs, and behaviour of people on probation with a full range of offence types and levels of risks, including those convicted of sexual and domestic abuse offences. The main objectives are to reduce re-offending, protect the public, prevent future victims, and support rehabilitation through effective evidence-based Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions.
The post holder will be regionally based in the Interventions Team and report to the Programme Manager. They will deliver interventions across a large regional area where travel will be required, including regular unsocial hours (evenings and weekends).
Responsibilities, Activities & Duties
The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:
* Plan and deliver interventions in groups or on an individual basis, creating a therapeutic and safe working environment.
* Adhere to PS statutory responsibilities for safeguarding and manage group dynamics effectively.
* Monitor and make informed recommendations regarding the suitability, risk, safety, and wellbeing of people on probation.
* Complete timely and accurate recording of relevant data, including attendance and risk issues.
* Liaise and communicate with relevant staff or stakeholders regarding people on probation.
* Deliver workshops and briefings to Probation staff and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrate pro-social modelling skills and reinforce pro-social behaviour.
* Participate in regular feedback sessions to review and reflect on practice.

Minimum Requirements
Experience
* Experience dealing with challenging behaviour.
* Experience working collaboratively within a team.
* Understanding of the criminal justice system and safeguarding principles.
* Experience assessing and analysing information to make decisions.
* Commitment to promoting equality and valuing diversity.
* Experience using IT software applications.
* Experience planning and prioritising tasks effectively.
Technical
Candidates will be required to undertake and pass an Assessment Centre prior to training.
Candidates must become an Accredited Programmes Facilitator by successfully completing Core Skills and Programme specific training.
Working Arrangements & Further Information
The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This role can only be worked in the UK. Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding unpaid breaks. HMPPS welcomes part-time, flexible and job-sharing working patterns.
