Our East Cowes facilities, here on the Isle of Wight, design, manufacture, test, and repair high-performance structures and systems. We employ the company’s distinct competencies in major assemblies and composite structures for the global aerospace market. Our customer base includes Airbus, Astronics, BAE Systems, Boeing, Bombardier Aerospace, Cessna, Cobham, Honeywell, Leonardo, Lockheed Martin, Rolls Royce, and Triumph.
Continued growth in our programmes has created a number of exciting training opportunities for qualified personnel looking to convert their experience and skilled status in an allied trade to train as Aircraft Fitters.
Successful applicants will join our 2-year programme, which provides on-the-job training across various manufacturing processes. Additionally, applicants will undertake a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering in partnership with the Isle of Wight College, producing a portfolio of evidence during the training period.
Job Responsibilities
* Contribute to creating a 'Great Place to Work' by role-modelling safety-first, a Kaizen mindset, and supporting colleagues
* Hold themselves and team members accountable to embody GKNA culture principles
* Perform tasks in compliance with standard work and training, reporting issues immediately
* Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and standards
* Understand team KPIs and contribute to their achievement
* Become certified at Lean Foundation level and implement at least one Kaizen per month
* Support problem-solving and contribute ideas based on own experience
* Promote active team engagement
* Comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including EEO policies, ethics, and export controls
Job Qualifications
The essential criteria include:
* Recognition of a 2-4 year apprenticeship in an allied trade with a minimum Level 3 qualification, such as:
* Air Conditioning Fitter, Platers, Blacksmiths, Plumbers, CNC/5 Axis Operators, Sheet Metal Workers, Coppersmiths, Machinists, Mechanics (Motor)
Applicants must support their application with appropriate signed apprenticeship indentures or relevant certifications.
