ABOUT THE COMPANY
Trefoil Tutors was founded in 2011 with the aim of bringing a new level of professionalism to tutoring in North London. We are incredibly proud of the quality of teaching and learning we deliver across a range of different subjects in order to augment and support the work done at school with our structured schemes of work and bespoke resources. More than a decade on, our full-time tutors now teach over 300 students a week in Mathematics, English, Reasoning and Science.
We pride ourselves in not being a "tutoring agency" but rather qualified teachers and experienced tutors who see tutoring as a vocation in itself. Our tutors are supported by a full-time administrative team who assist the tutors in order to ensure they can spend their time focusing on delivering outstanding teaching and learning. Lessons take place weekly during term-time and are taught in purpose-built classrooms at our office in Elstree.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be asked to teach structured and engaging Mathematics lessons to students from Year 4 to Year 11 or Year 7 to Year 13, depending on the candidate's experience and expertise.
In order to maintain the consistency of teaching and learning across the company, the following will be provided:
* A full scheme of work
* Weekly assignments
* Three-weekly assessments
* Weekly teaching videos from the Lead Mathematics Tutor
The successful candidate will be expected to alter and enrich these throughout the academic year. Further to this, the successful candidate will support our Lead Mathematics Tutor in his work and lead Trefoil Online by providing marking and detailed feedback to students. Trefoil Online students will not attend face-to-face lessons but will submit weekly assignments or assessments through our website portal.
Hours
The role is based on a 40-hour-a-week contract, with the specific days and times negotiable. Please note that our lessons will take place between 4:30pm and 9:20pm on weekdays, and/or between 10am and 9pm on weekends.
We are offering a competitive salary dependent on experience and in line with Independent Schools in the North London area.
Weeks and timetable
The contract is based on 36 weeks of term-time teaching in a calendar year and four additional weeks dedicated to parent report meetings, continued professional development and lesson preparation.
Classes
Over the course of a term, you will teach up to fourteen 90-minute-long lessons with groups of up to six students. This will include running one class for each year group with the additional classes allocated to year groups according to demand.
