An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a 0.88WTE Highly Specialist Clinical Psychologist to support the growing Critical Care team at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust. The Critical Care Psychology provision is a newly funded service, with experienced 8c Consultant Clinical Psychologists covering our Critical Care sites at Queens Medical Centre (QMC) and Nottingham City Hospital. We are seeking an additional 8b Clinical Psychologist to be involved in developing this new service in a dynamic & highly supportive environment, where Clinical Psychology is highly valued.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have a regular physical presence across both sites in order to be physically available to support patients & their families, alongside existing Family Liaison Nurses. They will also support Critical Care staff members on a face-to-face basis or at times, via telephone or video consultation.
The post holder(s) will also have the opportunity to become involved in projects to help shape the future development of Critical Care Psychology services within the Trust & potentially also Nationally. Supervision will be provided by the existing experienced & highly supportive Consultant Clinical Psychologists already working in Critical Care.
The successful applicants will be warmly welcomed to the rapidly growing Department of Clinical Psychology & Neuropsychology within the Trust. Currently there are over 30 Clinical Psychologists, and Assistant and Trainee Clinical Psychologists working across a number of medical inpatient and outpatient services within the Trust. We have excellent links with the University of Nottingham, Nottingham Trent University and the regional Clinical Psychology Doctorate Courses.

Person specification
Training & Qualifications
* Post-graduate doctoral level (or equivalent) training, as accredited by the BPS.
* HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
* Completion of further post qualification specialist relevant training, including training in the supervision of trainee clinical psychologists
* Training in 2 or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan/developmental psychology
* Post-doctoral training in one or more additional specialised areas of psychological practice e.g. trauma, pain management, etc.
* Post-qualification accreditation in particular psychotherapeutic approaches e.g., cognitive behaviour therapy, ACT, Mindfulness, EMDR, etc.
Experience
* Considerable experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist
* Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment with people with medical and health conditions
* Experience of working with a wide range of client groups and presentations
* Experience of exercising clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team, with other disciplines including medicine and nursing
* Experience of providing supervision and consultation to other clinical staff including psychologists.
* Experience of teaching, training and/or professional and clinical supervision
* Experience in conducting or supporting service development projects.
* Experience of working in an acute hospital trust
* Experience of working in acute hospital on inpatient wards with patients with medical/chronic health conditions
* Experience of working with delirium
* Experience of assessing trauma reactions and delivering evidence-based trauma-focused interventions
* Experience in working with challenging client groups (e.g. people with multiple physical, social and psychological problems, or people whose health is seriously compromised by inabilities to adhere to medical treatment)
* Demonstrable experience as a Clinical Psychologist working in a Critical Care setting
* Experience of working with patients and families in a Critical Care setting

* Experience of developing and delivering training courses of varying lengths
* Experience of conducting evaluation projects and clinical research within health settings
* Experience of the application of psychology in different cultural contexts

Communication & Relationship Skills
* Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to patients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS
* Ability to deal sensitively and constructively with situations when in highly emotive circumstances
* Skills in providing consultation & supervision to other professional and non-professional groups

* Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including both quantitative and qualitative methods.
* Knowledge of complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
* Ability to contribute to policy and service development forums and propose service changes and developments

* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS.

The quoted salary will be on a pro rata basis for part time workers.
