Working Pattern: Permanent / Full Time
As the Department Head - Control & Instrumentation, you will:
Duties:
* Be responsible for coordinating resources to ensure the correct personnel and competency are available for delivery of work scopes.
* Lead a team of engineers and coordinate work tasks to achieve required plan dates.
* Perform technical authority for the C&I discipline.
* Be responsible for team training and development.
* Champion innovation and develop new engineering capabilities within the discipline and PD&MS.
* Support technical and commercial bids and other business development activities.
* Ensure compliance with client, industry and international specifications and standards.
* Manage personnel and overall responsibility for the technical content and quality of work produced for “own discipline”, training and development.
* Coordinate all discipline input to support delivery and ensure design integrity and consistency.
* Identify and resolve any issues delaying design delivery/related procurement.
* Identify specialist 3rd party input and plan for execution at the correct time.
* Oversee delivery of cost-effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both PD&MS and the Client.
* Prepare and approve estimates and tender packages.
* Overall discipline responsibility from receipt of tender/invitation to quote through to completion of the documentation package for all departmental work.
* Overall technical and commercial authority for the department.
* Deliver department project design deliverables in accordance with agreed schedules and priorities.
* Represent PD&MS with Clients, Suppliers/Vendors and Certifying Authorities professionally.
* Convene periodic departmental and inter-departmental production meetings.
* Manage resources and timely identification of changes to resource requirements.
* Right-size the discipline team and drive utilization of the most cost-effective resources.
* Review and monitor competence of engineering personnel within the department.
* Notify Finance Department of all work which can be billed.
* Periodically review company procedures and policies.
* Remain up to date with technical developments and legislative requirements related to the position.
* Actively promote services of the company whenever possible.
* Review personnel performance, competency and work ethic.
* Ensure professional development is maintained and competency requirements are undertaken in a timely manner.
* Adhere to the company integrated management system.
* Comply with quality assurance, health and safety and environmental policies.
* Demonstrate and promote PD&MS QHSE principles and lead by example.
* Ensure unsafe activities are challenged.
* Adhere to best practice standards in risk assessment and control.
* Ensure direct report performance reviews are carried out within the required timescales.

About You
The successful candidate would ideally have the following skills and attributes:
* BSc in relevant Engineering Discipline.
* Significant experience in Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking/Approval.
* Understanding of all Engineering disciplines.
* Thorough knowledge of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards.
* Understanding of Autodesk Design products.
* Competent in MS Office applications.
* Experience in managing and developing others.
* Excellent written and spoken English.

Specific Experience required:
* TUV certification and experience in functional safety PHA’s.
* Experience in managing team budgets and controlling scope change.
* Significant experience performing studies and package management in an EPC environment.
* Oil and Gas Control and Instrumentation Engineering experience.
* Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Field Instrument selection and application.
* Demonstrable experience and knowledge in Control system modification.
* Experience in writing/checking/approving system SoW for 3rd party systems.
* Demonstrable experience in HAZOP/HAZID and other PHA.
* Understanding of CE/ATEX and UKCA certification of equipment.
* Experience in support to construction and commissioning activities.
