Job overview
We are looking for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our musculoskeletal outpatients teams at Pilgrim Hospital. You will assess and treat generalised MSK conditions including consultant, GP and staff referrals.
Our team is highly focussed on supporting your development and we work hard to ensure you receive 1:1 supervision, regular training/peer review/journal clubs and access to advice and support from our MSK team leads and our MSK clinical specialist physiotherapists. All physiotherapists benefit from protected CPD time, and there is also the opportunity to apply for external courses and training.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard of Physiotherapy in the Musculoskeletal Outpatient service at Pilgrim Hospital including providing classes and clinics as each area requires.
To perform more advanced and detailed assessments with patients presenting with more diverse and complex conditions, providing a diagnosis and develop and deliver an individualised specialist treatment programme.
To hold own caseload and be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without direct supervision.
Person specification
Qualification
* Diploma / degree in Physiotherapy
* Registration as a Physiotherapist with the Health Professions Council (HCPC)
* 5 GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above including English Language and Maths
* Evidence of maintained CPD in a portfolio including attendance at relevant post graduate courses
* Membership of the CSP
* Involvement in a special interest group
Experience
* Broad experience as a Band 5 physiotherapist in a variety of NHS clinical areas; must include MSK rotation
* Experience of working as part of a team/ MDT
* Good theoretical knowledge within a broad range of conditions especially those of musculoskeletal origin
* Student or assistant supervision contributing to education
* Knowledge of CSP guidelines, Trust policies & procedures understanding the legal responsibilities of the role.
* Understanding clinical governance & its implications for the service.
* Excellent verbal, non verbal and written skills along with clear logical presentation skills.
* Ability to work effectively alone & as part of a team.
* Ability to organise, delegate and prioritise in a timely and effective manner.
* Ability to cope with working in a moderately physical and stressful environment with aggressive and emotional people.
* Ability to evidence/demonstrate key values and behaviours in line with the trust framework: *Patient Centred * Safety *Compassion * Respect * Excellence
* Involvement in audit, research and understanding quality issues
* Knowledge of the workings of the community services and intermediate care services.
* Evidence of participation in audits.
* Ability to organise and run internal courses.
* Supervision of other staff.
* Committee membership e.g. safety committee.
