This role is a great opportunity for an ambitious Laboratory professional to lead a team in a high performing setting.
In this role you will be responsible for leading, planning and organising the Laboratory section in all aspects, according to management directives and set goals.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
The role includes safety and supervisory management for the Laboratory team and operation and development of all Laboratory functions
Working independently under organisational guidelines to achieve Laboratory targets.
Ensure correct staffing for the safe and effective operation of the Laboratory.
Developing operational and capital budgets and manage expenditure according to agreed targets.
Leads the operation, maintenance and development of the LIMS system.
Leads the management of Laboratory stock control and maintenance management.
Lead and participate in safety, 5S and continuous improvement initiatives as required.
The role also includes development and documentation for existing and new procedures and systems.
Work in the role is expected to lead towards laboratory accreditation.
Participation in safety and continuous improvement initiatives is also a requirement of the role.
A significant proportion of the person's time will focus on creating and achieving the strategic plan for the Laboratory function.
Coordination and management of external resources as required by business needs.
Experience and Qualifications:
Possess a relevant third level laboratory, scientific or environmental science qualification.
A minimum of 5 years Laboratory operational experience is required.
Relevant leadership and supervisory experience is also required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, be capable of working and leading as part of a small team and be prepared to work flexible hours as required.
