This Portfolio Manager will report to the Head of SPN Capital Delivery and will work within Capital Programme & Procurement based in our Crawley office. You will be a permanent employee.
You will attract a salary depending on experience, car allowance, flexible benefits fund and a bonus of 10%. This role can also offer blended working after probationary period (6 months) - 3 days in the office and 2 remote.

Job Purpose
As the Portfolio Manager, your main responsibilities are to be accountable to the Head of Delivery for the safe delivery of a portfolio of projects and programmes of work within the mandated output, time and cost criteria, to ensure maximum benefit is obtained from the investment within the current regulatory review period.
Dimensions
Indirect budget – circa £5 million. Staff responsibility – 10 direct reports including UKPN and partner staff, managing the delivery of projects utilising a multi-discipline team of circa 100 including a direct workforce comprising consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
Principal Accountabilities
* Deliver a portfolio of programmes and projects of major capital projects for Asset Management, Customer Connections and Future Networks programme at a value of c£60m p.a.
* Provide leadership and daily direction of Programme and Senior Project Managers and associated support functions including Health and Safety, PMO, Design, Commercial, Operations, Consents and Procurement, being accountable for all aspects of delivery of their portfolio including time, cost, quality, health & safety and environmental performance.
* Ensure risk and opportunity management is undertaken across their portfolio.
* Forecast expenditure, project and sub-programme milestones, regulatory outputs and resource requirements.
* Manage the performance of the assigned portfolio plan including safety, cost and schedule efficiencies targeted, network performance and customer experience.
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory and UK Power Networks standards.
* Visibly help develop processes to improve problem solving and challenge existing solutions, allowing a lower cost design and installation approach to all programmes and projects as part of achieving efficiency targets.
* Ensure review and continuous improvement of the project delivery team's knowledge and skill base through training, coaching & staff development.
* Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations requirements and codes of practice across the portfolio.
* Accountable for the ongoing development of robust programme and project strategies to ensure delivery and completion of the Capital Programme outputs.
* Manage working relationships with contractors, suppliers and external stakeholders at all levels in respective organisations.
* Develop good working relationships across all UK Power Networks directorates and internal stakeholders.
* Ensure that all portfolio and project lessons learnt are captured and implemented within the region and overall UK Power Networks business.
* Manage both strategic and tactical aspects of multiple or large scale programmes and projects, focusing on outputs to achieve medium term objectives and business plans.
* Ensure that commercial arrangements are managed with others including Alliance members, delivery partners and other suppliers.
* Ensure that all work is carried out to provide very high levels of Customer Service.
* Support Network Operations directorate with major network and/or plant and equipment failures and subsequent repairs or replacements.
* May be asked to participate in 'Business Change' or other 'Special' projects in addition to existing role and duties.
Nature and Scope
As the Portfolio Manager, you will work with Asset Management to agree the scope and programming of the projects that make up the portfolio. You will be accountable for the plan and delivery for each of these programmes and projects, often spanning several years.
Regular stakeholder management and portfolio reviews are required with Senior and Executive Management in attendance.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
* A formal qualification in Project / programme Management and/or an equivalent degree in Electrical or Civil Engineering with substantial experience delivering infrastructure projects.
* Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer or equivalent with demonstrable relevant experience.
* Practitioner level experience in the management and administration of NEC and other standard forms of construction Contracts.
* Practitioner level skills in the application of planning and scheduling construction programmes.
* Practitioner level skills of Risk Management techniques.
* Awareness of cost drivers and cost reduction measures within industry.
* NEBOSH Safety in Construction and Law certificate is desirable.
* Experience of CDM Regulations 2015.
* Experience managing multidisciplinary teams of internal and external project managers, engineers and related staff.
* Ability to provide impartial direction to the wider project stakeholders.
