General Practitioner Quays Medical Practice
You will be joining a thriving and successful practice of just over 6,000 patients with 3 GP Partners, Practice Pharmacist, Minor Illness Nurse and a full NHS complimentary team. We operate a GP telephone triage system and ASKMYGP online service.
Main duties of the job
You will be working as a salaried GP within a supportive clinical team for a well run GP practice. Your working days will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays covering one on call. You will be triaging patients and managing your own appointments.

Triage practice since 2015, operating Emis and askmyGP with practice pharmacist and nurse led minor illness clinics. Training practice for Specialty GP Trainees, Foundation Year doctors and Cardiff final year medical students.
Job responsibilities
Main Duties:
1. Responding to medical problems presented by patients, including history taking, examination, investigation, diagnosis, treatment and referral where appropriate, in person or remote consultations via telephone or ASKMYGP.
2. Providing appropriate preventative health care and advice.
3. Providing on call cover.
4. Adhering to the practice prescribing formulary.
5. Preparing medical reports for insurance companies, employers and statutory bodies.
6. Participating in clinical governance activity and contributing to the improvement in quality of health outcomes through the practices audit programme.
7. Clinically related administrative and non-clinical duties necessary for the delivery of the GMS contract.
8. Providing other services outside of the GMS contract.
9. Engaging in appropriate educational activity in order to maintain clinical competence and performance, including the completion of objectives agreed by yourself and your appraiser.
10. Participating in the training and development of nurses and non-clinical staff.
11. Supporting the practice staff and responding to requests for advice and assistance from the practice reception, admin and nursing teams.
12. To undertake daily tasks such as results, letters, reports, repeat prescribing etc. for own workflow and for other teams as required.
13. Practice mandatory training to be undertaken during study leave which is allocated as one week per year.
14. At all times to behave in a professional way that encourages quality practice and the development of team spirit.

Experience
* Vocational GP training
* Experience in general practice and working in multi disciplinary team
* Eligibility for minor surgery, obstetrics, family planning accreditation

* Proven ability to handle a busy and varied primary care caseload and respond flexibly to workload fluctuations
* Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek advice from senior doctors as appropriate
* Commitment to team approach and multi disciplinary working

* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register

* Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* MRCGP
* Other relevant specialist interests & skills
