The purpose of this role is to be responsible for the creation and updating of the multi Business Unit Target Purchasing Strategy (TPS). Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities within the Supply Chain to meet programme budgets. Creation and management of supplier Long Term Agreements (LTA). Technical specialist for the relevant Commodity. Management and execution of cross-functional high complexity (typically £10M+) transfers of work.
Key Responsibilities
This role is within the Commodity team which forms part of the wider Strategic Purchasing team based in Cwmbran of which there are thirty-plus team members.
1. Contribution towards the annual direct purchasing spend for SGB programmes of ~£160M with a savings challenge.
2. Leadership of multi Business Unit cross-functional RFP's.
3. Leadership of a group of designated buyers across the purchasing function.
4. Acting as a coach to designated buyers within the purchasing function in order to develop strategic teams.
5. To issue and monitor RFP/Q's to strategic suppliers using available engineering data.
6. Review and selection of suppliers based on proposals/quotations received.
7. Setup supplier data within the business ERP system.
8. Using MRP data to raise necessary PO, and work with a predetermined number of suppliers to ensure that materials ordered are delivered on time in full, and to the correct quality standards.
9. To develop partnerships and relationships with suppliers.
10. To manage large scale purchasing projects such as industrialisation of new products that include but not limited to composite, metallic and electrical structures and assemblies.
11. Responsible for the creation and updating of the multi Business Unit Target Purchasing Strategy (TPS).
12. Ensure OTIF from supply base meets the MRP requirements.
13. Ensure all KPI's are reported and updated in accordance with requirements.
14. Maintain metrics of supplier performance including Cost savings.
15. To ensure Program/Business Sectors are supported.
Job Requirements
5 GCSE's (or equivalent) including Maths and English, A-C grade preferred.
Engineering Degree.
MCIPS Essential.
Minimum of 4 years purchasing experience.
Team Management / Leadership skills.
Read and understand engineering drawings.
Demonstrable experience in problem-solving techniques.
Knowledge of Purchasing activity within a manufacturing environment.

Specificity of the Job
Travel both within the United Kingdom and internationally is required to carry out activities such as supplier Annual Performance Reviews (APR) and project-specific meetings/workshops.
