About Us:
North Yorkshire Sport (NYS) is a charity that uses movement, activity, and sport as a driver for positive change to enable people to fulfill their potential. Our vision is for York and North Yorkshire to be a place where everyone enjoys moving more, leading to healthy and happy lives. We are a team of approximately 25 staff who work to influence and advocate for the role of being active across the county, as well as coordinating and delivering programmes.
The successful candidate will be covering maternity leave and will have responsibility for delivering 3 main projects, which are already established:
1. Stepping Up – a project which provides mentoring services to young people using trained athletes to work 1:1,
2. Change Direction – a project which provides mentoring services to teenagers using trained athletes to work 1:1,
3. Woodsmith Achieve – Managing 2 Programme Coordinators who work on the North Yorkshire Coast working directly with a cohort of young people to provide enrichment opportunities.
Supporting these, you will also need to maintain and develop relationships with partners such as the police, local schools, youth justice, and other youth services.
You will also be gathering and reporting data from the projects, telling the story of our work through case studies and championing safeguarding standards, equality, diversity, and inclusion to ensure that we are reducing inequalities.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
We are looking for someone who can work across different projects, managing deadlines, finances, and building relationships. You will have experience of working with young people, understanding the value of youth voice and the challenges facing young people.
About You
We want someone who can work with others and independently, who can communicate well and who is keen to learn and develop yourself and others. You must be passionate about reducing inequalities and targeting work to people and places who need it most.
While we are an organization that uses the power of movement, activity, and sport, this doesn't mean you have to have a positive relationship with being active, as long as you can see the benefits of it.
As you will have access to children, the successful candidate will undertake a DBS check.
