A large Civil Engineering Contractor with a £134 million turnover is looking for a Principal Engineer to oversee the design team and assist the Design Manager with structural, temporary works, and geotechnical experience in Leeds. They're looking for an experienced individual to work on projects within the tunnelling industry as well as above ground structures and large Infrastructure projects. The most successful Principal Engineer will be degree of CEng status with a minimum of 8 years' experience capable of producing designs and checking others' work as well as management. The Principal Engineer will have expertise in underground structures/tunnelling, temporary works, and complex Infrastructure projects.

Principal Engineer Job Overview
1. Provide technical support to the sectors of the business
2. Support tendering developing construction methodology
3. Lead the projects through the preconstruction design phase producing designs, as well as provide technical support through the construction phase supporting the site teams
4. Lead and manage design teams in delivering high-quality engineering solutions for major projects
5. Liaise with external consultants
6. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior design engineers
7. Ensure all designs meet safety, environmental, and quality requirements
8. Oversee the integration of design changes, addressing any technical challenges that arise during project development
9. Participate in client meetings and support business development through technical input
Principal Engineer Job Requirements
1. BEng or MEng level in Civil and/or Structural Engineering
2. Chartership status CEng with the ICE or IStructE
3. 8+ years' experience with expertise in underground structures/large Infrastructure projects
4. Design consultancy environment
5. Technical skill with accomplished structural design skills and geotechnical knowledge
6. Ability to help support, mentor and develop junior engineers within the team
7. Sound knowledge of CDM H&S regulations
8. Excellent written English language and grammar
