Job Purpose
The postholder will join the Adam Smith Business School’s student experience team, whose aim is to empower students to make the most of their time at the business school, preparing them for their future. The team contributes to areas that enhance the student journey, including student engagement, internationalisation, wellbeing, and professional development.
As a key member of the team, the Student Mobility & International Experience Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering global engagement and mobility across both student and staff populations. This position focuses on developing and supporting programmes that enhance international perspectives, facilitate mobility opportunities, and contribute to the successful integration of international students into the Adam Smith Business School.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Student and Staff Mobility
* Lead awareness raising campaigns of ‘semester and year exchange’ programmes offered by the University and the Go Abroad team, ensuring students are aware of the range of opportunities available.
* Organise shorter-term mobility opportunities, such as study trips and summer schools, that complement the central mobility programmes.
* Develop and implement effective communications plans to raise awareness and engagement with mobility opportunities among students and staff.
* Provide pre-departure guidance and re-entry support for students participating in mobility initiatives, including cultural preparation and reflective learning.
* Support staff mobility initiatives, including identifying and sharing funding opportunities and providing guidance to participants.
* Collaborate with academic staff to establish partnerships with international institutions and facilitate the development and implementation of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) initiatives, enabling virtual exchange opportunities.
International Student Support and Integration
* Enrolment of visiting international students, responding to queries and requests in a timely manner.
* Liaise with the Learning and Teaching Operations team to ensure the seamless enrolment and academic integration of visiting students, including course registration and addressing any academic concerns.
* Lead on organising cultural events and celebrations that enrich campus life and foster cross-cultural understanding for all international students.
* Collaborate with other team members to deliver orientation programmes, cultural workshops, and peer networking opportunities to enhance the international student experience.
* Contribute to a welcoming campus environment by assisting with initiatives that connect international students with university resources and the broader community.
Collaboration and Governance
* Attend and contribute to meetings as part of the governance of internationalisation within the school and college.
* Collaborate with academic and professional services colleagues, including mobility coordinators, to integrate internationalisation efforts across campus life.
* Build effective partnerships across the college and University with colleagues who support internationalisation and attend relevant working groups and meetings.
Programme Evaluation and Reporting
* Evaluate mobility and cultural programmes through student feedback, participation data, and outcome assessments.
* Prepare detailed reports on the school’s international activities, including mobility participation, outcomes, partnership success, to inform strategic decisions.
* Support the international directors in keeping track of partnership development.
* Use insights to refine and enhance offerings, ensuring high-quality and impactful experiences for all participants.
Administrative Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support and guidance to the school’s mobility coordinators for both incoming and outgoing students.
* Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on programme participation, outcomes, and trends.
* Ensure the accessibility and inclusivity of all internationalisation initiatives.
* Organise and oversee logistical arrangements for school organised international trips, including travel, applying for visas, and accommodation.
* Ensure that all necessary risk assessments are completed for school-led international mobility programmes and events.
* Provide administrative support and desk-based research to support academic colleagues developing Memoranda of Agreement (MOA), Memoranda of Understanding (MOU), and articulation agreements with international academic partners.
Other Duties
* Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support internationalisation and the goals of the Student Experience team.
Knowledge/Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Knowledge/Qualifications
Essential:
A1. Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 8 (Scottish Vocational Qualification level 4, Higher National Diploma) or equivalent, and experience of personal development in a similar role.
A2. Understanding of mobility programmes or internationalisation initiatives, including the challenges and opportunities they present.
A3. Awareness of cultural adjustment processes and the experiences of international students and staff.
A4. Familiarity with administrative and compliance requirements, such as travel, visa processes, and risk assessments.
Desirable:
B1 Knowledge of the University of Glasgow systems, e.g., Moodle, MyCampus.
B2 Knowledge and understanding of the University of Glasgow structure, policies, practices and procedures, particularly in relation to student mobility.

Experience
Essential:
E1. Previous experience in coordinating programmes and activities ideally in mobility, internationalisation, or student support contexts.
E2. Demonstrated experience in providing support to international students or staff, including addressing their unique needs and challenges.
E3. Proven ability to plan and manage events or initiatives that promote engagement and integration.
E4. Experience in handling administrative processes, such as organising travel, visas, and other logistical arrangements.
E5. Experience of organising events and promoting participation with key audiences.
Desirable:
F1. Experience of studying and/or working overseas.
Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,232 - £36,924 per annum.
This post is full time (35 hours per week) and open ended (permanent).
