Job Description:
As a Speech and Language Therapist specializing in Dysphagia, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating swallowing disorders across a diverse patient population. You will work closely with patients, families, and the broader healthcare team to develop and implement effective treatment plans that improve the quality of life for those affected by Dysphagia.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct thorough assessments of patients with Dysphagia, utilizing both clinical evaluation and instrumental methods (e.g., Videofluoroscopic Swallowing Studies, Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluation of Swallowing).
* Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on improving swallowing function and safety.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including doctors, dietitians, and occupational therapists, to provide holistic care.
* Provide education and training to patients, families, and caregivers on Dysphagia management and prevention strategies.
* Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to achieve optimal outcomes.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, treatment plans, and progress notes.
* Stay current with the latest research and best practices in Dysphagia management to ensure the highest standard of care.
* Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and continuing education opportunities.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech and Language Therapy from an accredited institution.
* CORU registration
* Specialized training and experience in Dysphagia assessment and management.
* Strong clinical skills in both instrumental and non-instrumental swallowing assessments.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
