Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Team Teach qualified Teaching Assistant to join our supportive and collaborative team at a well-regarded educational institution in Preston, Lancashire. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our inclusive learning environment, working closely with teachers and staff to provide assistance and support to students with a range of educational needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work under the guidance of teaching staff and within an agreed system of supervision, to implement work programs with individuals/groups, in or out of the classroom.
2. Employ Team Teach strategies to manage behaviour and support students with special educational needs and disabilities, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
3. Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
4. Create and maintain a supportive and safe learning environment for all students.
5. Contribute to the planning and preparation of learning activities and to the monitoring of students’ responses to learning activities and recording achievement/progress.
6. Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all students within the classroom.
7. Assist with the development of students’ social skills by fostering positive behaviour and encouraging independence as appropriate.
8. Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop students’ competence and independence in its use.
9. Prepare resources and materials as directed by the classroom teacher.
10. Participate in evaluation and reviews of students’ progress.
11. Provide feedback to students in relation to attainment and progress under the guidance of the teacher.
12. Undertake student supervisory duties before and after school and during breaks as needed.
13. Engage with parents and carers under the direction of the teacher to support the educational development of the children.
14. Attend and participate in relevant meetings as required.
15. Maintain confidentiality about home-school/student-teacher/work relationships.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Team Teach trained with a valid Team Teach certificate.
2. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification or experience in working with children in a school setting.
3. Understanding of classroom roles and responsibilities.
4. Experience working with children with additional needs is preferred.
5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to build good relationships with children, teachers, and parents.
7. A caring and understanding approach with the resilience to deal with challenging behaviour.
8. Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo checks).
