Who You Are You are an experienced and knowledgeable professional with at least two years of experience working as a Personal Advisor with Care Leavers. You possess an in-depth understanding of the Children Acts of 1989 and 2004, Children Leaving Care Act 2000, and have strong skills in direct work with young people, assessment, and managing risk. You are adept at working in partnership with other professionals and families, demonstrating a flexible and creative approach. You hold effective communication skills, both verbal and written, and can manage complex, high-risk situations. You value equal opportunities and understand the impact of discrimination on young people leaving care. You are also capable of working in a multicultural environment and are willing to travel as needed, even beyond office hours. What the Job Involves The role involves holding an allocated caseload, providing direct services to care leavers aged 18 to 24, and managing complex and high-risk cases to improve outcomes. You will complete Pathway Assessments and Plans, offering practical support and advocacy based on assessed needs. Your responsibilities include engaging with young people to identify their needs, strengths, and risks, motivating them toward personal development, and supporting them in their decision-making processes. You'll collaborate with educational institutions, employers, and community agencies to meet the young people’s needs. Engaging parents and carers, communicating effectively in varied settings, and monitoring progress through regular reviews of Pathway Plans are key duties. You'll also participate in duty rota cover, contribute to team development, and ensure customer care and confidentiality in line with council values. This is a hybrid position requiring work from the office for at least two days a week, with additional duty coverage as required.
