Job Title: Assistant Financial Controller
Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am-5.00pm
Salary: £55,000

Assistant Financial Controller Opportunity
This position is responsible for developing, producing, and analysing monthly management accounts with commentary. Additional responsibilities include preparing statutory accounts, liaising with auditors and tax advisors, managing monthly payroll, and reviewing and approving payments as needed.
Assistant Financial Controller Duties
* Prepare a comprehensive month-end management accounts pack with commentary for Board presentation.
* Review and reconcile all balance sheet control accounts.
* Oversee payroll preparation, including verification of overtime claims for submission to the payroll bureau.
* Review and approve purchase ledger payments.
* Ensure financial controls and procedures are adequate and consistently followed.
* Prepare and review quarterly VAT returns and payments on account.
* Maintain compliance with HMRC regulations.
* Prepare statutory year-end accounts and liaise with auditors.
* Manage communications with bankers and the group finance team.
* Support the financial aspects of the tender process.
* Prepare and present ad hoc financial reports and analysis.
* Coordinate with insurance brokers for annual renewals, monitor claims, ensure compliance with policy terms, and manage all insurance-related processes.
* Monitor fleet driver licenses for insurance compliance.
* Undertake additional duties as required to support business needs.
Assistant Financial Controller skills/experience required
* Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA, or equivalent).
* Significant experience in a financial role within a business environment.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Outlook and Word.
Desirable Knowledge & Experience for the Assistant Financial Controller
* Understanding of UK GAAP and IFRS.
* Knowledge of Payroll, PAYE, and Pensions.
* Experience with VAT and Corporation Tax.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Outlook and Word.
* Experience with import/export procedures and associated duties/VAT.
* Knowledge of foreign exchange and forward contracts.
* Exposure to working within an international group.
* Experience using Power BI.
* Familiarity with consolidation systems and consolidation processes.
