The overarching aim of the post is to assist in meeting the responsibilities shared by Health Education England working across the North East (HEE NE) and NHS Trusts to provide high-quality multi-professional practice placements in sufficient numbers to meet the requirements of Allied Health Professional (AHP) students. The post holder will work under the direction of the Head of Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Education (NMAHP) and will be expected to use their initiative, analytical skills, and judgement.
In collaboration with the education providers, ensure the management of the portfolio of student placements within the Trust. The role will include working in collaboration with Practice Placement Facilitators (PPFs) both within the Trust and also in other Trusts to share student AHP capacity, model best practices, and continuously enhance the learning opportunities and support strategies for students.
To ensure that placement areas meet the standards for practice placements as identified by the Health and Care Professional Standards (HCPC). Undertake a lead role in auditing and monitoring individual placement areas within the organisation's portfolio of practice placements, ensuring the HEE Multi-Professional Education Quality Standards are met. Work in collaboration with education providers and/or identified Clinical Link Tutors/Programme Leaders to continuously review and maximise the student experience by ensuring structured support strategies are in place.
To take the lead in maximising placement capacity to support the increasing student numbers. Identify new areas for student placements and expand capacity where possible within existing placement areas. The post holder will lead the quality of learning and support within the clinical environment by providing support, educational input, and development activities for practice supervisors/practice assessors (mentors/preceptors/Educators) and students/learners on AHP programmes. The post holder is expected to work across Trust sites, including South Tyneside and Sunderland acute and community services and Durham Treatment centre.
