Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen in renal outpatients for a support nurse with an interest in preoperative assessment clinic. This is a 24.5 hours per week post. 15 hours (2x 7.5 hour shifts) covering set days on Wednesday and Thursday each week in preop clinic (or in renal outpatients if pre operative clinic not running) and a 9.5 hour shift in renal outpatients (this will be flexible on a Monday, Tuesday or Friday). The successful application will be undertaking general observations, taking blood samples, swabs and undertaking ECG's. They will assist the registered nurse in the co-ordination of the patient pathway through their pre-operative journey. In outpatients they will be preparing the patients for medical and nurse led clinic, undertaking observations and taking blood tests on patients. They will co-ordinate the clinic with supervision from the registered nurse. They may be requested to undertake bladder scans and ECGs also. They may be required to assist with chaperoning patients whilst being examined.Although not essential, competence in phlebotomy, ECG and bladder scanning is desirable. Full training and support will be given.
